Bluebird: It’s a Wrap
When I originally opened my Bluebird account I wasn’t too sure what to expect. It took a bit longer than I had anticipated because I once had a similar card with American Express and somehow my personal information was tied up with the other card and the system wasn’t allowing me to get the new Bluebird card. As soon as I notified their customer service department I was amazed at how helpful they were. I certainly didn’t expect the amount of personalized attention I got from a FREE card from American Express and Walmart. Not only did they call me to try and get the account straightened out but they actually emailed me AND followed up with me a few days later to make sure it all worked out. I was truly impressed with their customer service and from that point on I knew this card was different.
Getting Started with Bluebird
It is simple getting started with American Express and Walmart’s Bluebird. If you apply online a card is sent directly to you and if you purchase the card at Walmart you just need to go online and fill out the “application”. Either way this alternative to debit and checking accounts designed to help consumers, especially older teens and college students, better manage and control their everyday finances is a breeze to use. Adding cash to the card is as simple as visiting Walmart, using the Mobile App to deposit checks, or linking it to your Bank Account.
Once you have your card funded you are free to use it wherever American Express is accepted! You can even go online and use the Bluebird Bill Pay to pay your bills online. Or if you need cash fast you can visit any of the 22,000 MoneyPass® Network ATMs. We had no problems finding places that took the card when we traveled on our mini-vacation.
Just like with any other card you can manage your account online and with the Mobile App. You can check balance and even transfer money to family members using the Bluebird Sub-Accounts. This is particularly handy when you have kids in college. Managing your account 24/7 from anywhere gives me great peace of mind. I can’t tell you how many times I have had to check the balance to make sure no one tapped into the account without me knowing.
My final thoughts on the Bluebird Card? It works for us!
Sounds like an excellent idea. It would especially work for travel when you don’t want to carry cash and don’t have a handy credit card.
