Atlanta Braves New Stadium Plans – Goodbye Turner Field

The Atlanta Braves are ditching Turner Field

I just found out the Atlanta Braves will not be extending their lease at Turner Field this year and will be relocating to Cobb County. Apparently they have secured a large tract of land near the Cobb Galleria. The new location will be designed to accommodate more people, more parking spaces, and will be easier to access. The Braves have invested nearly $125 million in Turner Field which at this point needs approximately $150 million in infrastructure work. Even if the Braves were to invest in Turner Field the lack of adequate parking, lack of consistent mass transit to the facility, and lack of access to major roadways, would remain problems.

The Braves also intend on developing the remaining parcels surrounding the stadium by creating a world class entertainment district! I can’t wait to see what the longest continuously operating franchise in Major League Baseball comes up with. Regardless, I am sure it will be worth taking a trip from Orlando to check it out!

  1. Honestly, I’m excited about the new location. It won’t be as far as a drive for my family anymore, and the area is a bit safer than the current area.
