When #OneSmallChange Becomes A Habit

Make Your One Small Change Pledge

When I originally took a pledge to make #OneSmallChange I wasn’t exactly sure how it would all turn out.  Would I fail?  Would I put myself out there like I have a million times only to have nothing encouraging to say after 60-days of trying?  Fortunately a week or so after making my #OneSmallChange I had a positive update that gave me hope. Now that the 60 days are over I realize what was once work has become a habit.  When I wake up each morning it is a natural reflex for me to find my vitamins and my medication and to take them.  I even got fancy and purchased a pill keeper that is color coded and says am/pm to help me remember to take my medication throughout the day.  I can even remove day to day “servings” so that when I go away I only need to bring the days medication I need.  It’s pretty awesome.

What I find more interesting about making one small change to be healthy is that it has spiraled into other parts of my life. For instance later today I will be at Disney participating in the weekend long runDisney. Tonight, at 11:30pm I will be running around Epcot in a Fun Run.  I’m also signed up for a 2k next week, a 5k the week after, and another 5k in January.  I don’t think I will be running all these but whatever I can do is more than what I was doing before and that’s exciting!  I think my new “one small change” challenge for the next 60-days is going to be to try to run every day for whatever time I can manage.  If i can do that then by my 5k in January I’ll be running over the finish line instead of crawling.  How awesome would that be?

Pledge with me to make One Small Change and you become eligible to win $2,000 from Puritan’s Pride.  You could also win a Fit Pack, Snack Pack, Vita-Pack, or a Mind Pack filled with Puritan’s Pride products.

Looking for some small changes to make?  Here are some ideas:

  • Spend 15 minutes a day meditating or relaxing alone
  • Take time out during the day to practice breathing (pay attention to your inhale/exhales)
  • Go to bed 30 minutes early
  • Seek out social interaction with an adult and talk about something other than kids
  • Spend 20 minutes stretching

Whatever you decide to do start small because one small change can have a very big impact. It has had a tremendous impact on my life!
