JetBlue, Random House Children’s Books, and Magic Tree House Series Characters Jack and Annie, Host a Free ‘Soar With Reading’ Event at the Orlando Public Library
WHAT:
JetBlue Airways is in high gear with its third annual ‘Soar with Reading’ program. This award-winning summer literacy initiative places age-appropriate books in the hands of children in underserved areas while also encouraging children’s imaginations to take flight through reading. JetBlue is partnering with Random House Children’s Books and bestselling author of the Magic Tree House series, Mary Pope Osborne.
For the third year, the program will visit Orlando. JetBlue invites local parents, children, teachers and educators to join them at the Orlando Public Library – Orange County Library System where Magic Tree House Series’ beloved brother-sister duo, Jack and Annie, will delight children in attendance with a live Passport to Adventure performance. Additionally, Jay Anunziata, Orlando General Manager for JetBlue, will read aloud from Mary Pope Osborne’s first book in the series, Dinosaurs Before Dark. Children in attendance will take home a copy of Magic Tree House #1:Dinosaurs Before Dark by Mary Pope Osborne to help keep them reading and their imaginations soaring.
Throughout the summer, Soar with Reading will ask children to go online with their parents to create and share an adventure by answering the question, “What magical places would you like to travel to with Magic Tree House’s Jack and Annie and JetBlue this summer?” Participants will be entered for a chance to win one of four $5,000 college scholarships and other great prizes. For every submission, JetBlue will donate one book, up to $500,000, to underserved children across the country.
Soar with Reading provides free resources for children and families including an interactive reading list, a Passport to Adventure activity booklet, reading tips and expert advice for keeping kids engaged in reading all summer long.
