The Teen Beach Movie is out on DVD!

My 9 year old son let me know it was coming out on DVD and then before I had the chance to get a copy and surprise him he had already watched it four times on  his computer (apparently he had his dad buy it for him with his allowance).  I had not seen it so when we got it in the mail we popped some popcorn, got our drinks, and had a mother – son movie day featuring Teen Beach Movie by Disney.  Prior to watching the movie I noticed my Facebook stream filling up with mom’s saying their kids were watching it again for the third or fourth time so I was pretty excited that it was going to be good.  Regardless of what I was going to think my son was sold, Teen Beach Movie is a DVD to own.

There is something about musicals, they are hot right now.  This Disney Channel Original Movie is the surfers version of West Side Story, referred to as “Wet Side Story” starring teen sweethearts Brady and McKenzie.  As their perfect summer draws to a close McKenzie’s aunt comes to take her off to a private school.  On her final day in paradise McKenzie decides to catch the biggest wave of her lifetime and the next thing you know she wakes up as an active participant in the movie “Wet Side Story”.  I wont give much more detail because I don’t want to ruin it for you, but the theme was very reminiscent of High School Musical, the huge Disney hit of my older son’s generation.  A classic boy meets girl romance sure to please our younger kids when singing and dancing are thrown in.
