Summer is here and we are back to maintaining our lawns on an almost daily basis. In the Atlanta area yard work is especially taxing and that’s why we have decided to stop doing the work ourselves. We recently reached out to TruGreen to help. Who is TruGreen? They are the nation’s largest professional lawn, tree and shrub care provider with locations all over the metro Atlanta area. They even service areas such as Acworth, Dallas, and Hiram. For me personally the raking of leaves left over from the previous year is horrible and what we found underneath was even worse.
If you lack that Green Thumb too here are some tips from TruGreen that might help you out this summer…
Tips for a better lawn
- Clear dead leaves and debris to give room for new spring growth
- Prune dead branches from trees and shrubs
- Apply mulch around plants to help hold in moisture and prevent weeds in landscape beds
- To ensure healthy turf, be sure to mow your lawn at the correct height and always use a sharp blade to prevent tearing of the leaf blades
- Use fertilizer to encourage lawn, tree and shrub growth after a challenging winter
- Water your lawn one to two inches a week and be careful not to over water, which can lead to disease activity. Make sure to follow local water restrictions.

Great tips! I really need to mulch my flower beds better!
Pruning the tress is on my hate to do list. A necessary evil if you will.
Great tips! We try and make raking the leaves a fun family activity.
While I do live in Arizona – we have a small patch of grass as our front ‘yard’ – and we have landscapers, too. I love it – I don’t lose my husband every weekend for an hour to sweaty yard work 🙂
Great tips! Thanks, we need some help with our lawn ugh..
Good tips! Hope your lawn survives this brutal southern heat!
We’re not in Georgia, but we need all the help we can get. Pruning trees is on our hate list, but with being in tornado alley, absolutely mandatory!
