Setting up your Philips Hue starter kit is easy. All you have to do is screw in the bulbs, plug in the bridge, connect, and download the app. It’s all incredibly simple. The app holds your hand through the entire process and tell you exactly what to do. If you do have problems, help is only a phone call away. The app provides you with a support number just in case.
Adding accessories and additional lighting is super easy too. Just power up the new stuff, open the app, tap the button on the bridge, and wait a couple seconds for it to connect to each thing. After connecting, you can add lights to your existing lighting configuration in a specific room or put them somewhere else. The possibilities are virtually endless.
Philips Hue creates the perfect ambiance for Halloween. The only real limit to what you can do is in your imagination. Hue Halloween is one of the best apps ever that connects haunting sounds and lighting effects to your Hue system. You can control everything manually and even set it up with your Philips Hue motion sensor to trigger spooky effects and startle unsuspecting trick-or-treaters! Philips Hue Go lights are also great for illuminating carved pumpkins. After placing one inside, you can set the lights to flicker and even change colors!
Hue Halloween plays audio that is paired with whichever hue lights you select. Not only do the lights put on a fantastic show but the audio can be played on your home speaker system once you get it all connected!
This year we decided to keep outdoor decorations to a minimum. While there might not be much going on outside, as you can see, inside is a completely different story. Ever since we added more lights and accessories to our system and downloaded the Hue Halloween app we have enjoyed hours of family fun. It is perfect for getting kids out of their room and off the computer. Every day we all take turns creating spooky lighting configurations and using all the effects. It’s so much fun! When my son gets home from school and has homework to do, he selects Concentrate (from one of the four pre-set light recipes) and gets busy. He said this setting is his favorite “because it really helps shed light on the situation.”
Dimming the lights and using some of the other presets (like Tropical Twilight) are perfect for relaxing after a hard day’s work. Hue lighting is so versatile; it really helps you get the most out of your home. You can do so much with it. Ever since we installed the Philips Hue motion sensor, we don’t even have to flip a light switch to turn on the lights. We set them to come on when someone walks in the room. They also turn off when nobody is in the room which saves us power. You can even set them to come on at different times when you aren’t home. The app gives you full control of your lighting. Philips Hue is also compatible with smart home technology like Amazon Echo with Alexa, Apple Homekit with Siri, Google Home and its voice assistant, and more.
We have Amazon Echo with Alexa so when we want to turn the lights on or off, all we have to do is give her a command. She can control individual lights and groups of lights. It’s all determined by how you set it up and what command you give her. She can also control the lights by selecting from presets. It’s incredible. At the end of the day, when it’s time to relax, all I have to do is say “Alexa, turn on Tropical Twilight” and she will change the lights immediately to one of my most favorite configurations.
