Our New pizzeria!™ featuring DIGIORNO®
I grew up in a small town in Upstate New York that had a huge Italian population. My step-father is Italian and I was raised on Italian food so I take my pie very seriously. Pie? Pizza Pie. I think there were more Italian restaurants and pizzerias in our county then there were churches. It’s a serious business and the competition is fierce in those areas. Living in Florida makes me long for REAL pizza and the fast food delivery joints that “specialize” in pizza is nothing more than cardboard with fake sauce in my humble opinion. When DIGIORNO® reached out to me to try their new pizzeria!™ I was skeptical.
If I were to ask you, based on the photo above, how does it look – what would you say? Granted, I did sprinkle parm cheese on top but that’s pure habit. Other than that I did nothing to change how this looked straight from the package into the oven and on to the plate. Pretty impressive so far. Yes, admit it…it looks pretty dang good. The one in the photo above is the Primo Pepperoni and the one below is the Supreme Speciale. They also have Italian Meat Trio and Quattro Formaggi/Four Cheese. I love that you can see the seasoning from the sauce which features vine-ripened tomatoes, garlic, and various herbs. The crust is more authentic with a crisp outside and soft, airy on the inside. You can almost taste the extra virgin olive oil drizzled on the crust. There are NO artificial flavors and the crust is preservative-free just like home.
My verdict? It’s a keeper. The ingredients were fresh tasting and the crust was pretty good too. The hardest part about finding the right pizza is the crust and DIGIORNO® did a great job with their pizzeria!™. We got ours at our local Walmart, but you can find it at most grocer’s freezer sections nationwide.
