Every year we rack our brains about whether we should send Mothers Day flowers or candy…many of us sticking with the fail safe flowers. Buying gifts for her can truly be a challenge because, let’s face it, she gave birth to us. She is our creator (not to be confused with our Creator). My mom has been alive for 70 years and in that time she has accumulated a lot of things. She does not need jewelry, electronics, or anything else that will just make her already crowded home more crowded. So what are some of the things she likes most?
- Flowers accompanied by gift cards to local restaurants that she and my dad can go enjoy a meal together.

- A bottle of wine is always a hit when accompanied with some crackers and cheeses.

My mom has been teacher and a big fan of literature for 40years, the best gifts for here are books. She is always happy when she gets some new ones. She is really passionate about reading.
You are so right. When a mom reaches a certain age, there really is no practical gift to give them as they will already have it.
I think giving a sentiment is best – a gift basket, a nice card – anything that says she is special to you will be appreciated.
I always buy for my mom chocolate..thats what she likes more than anything else on the world 🙂
