I’m Saving Energy, Money, and Time with My Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer – Find Out How

A couple weeks ago I was tweeting about how much I love my new Whirlpool Duet Washer & Dryer and what a great opportunity this is for me and my family.  Since I have the most awesome group of Twitter followers around they have been pretty engaging when talking about the #WhirlpoolMoms.  One of the main things they wanted to know was the energy efficiency rating and similar stuff like that but I didn’t know the answers at the time and promised to look into it for them.  As promised this post will cover a lot of their questions, here are some quick facts that were shared with me:

  • The Duet is the industry’s most resource efficient laundry pair. Did you know that the dryer is energy efficient as well? It works in tandem with the washer to make the entire process more efficient by using faster spin speeds in the washer and sensors in the dryer.  I’ve noticed a lot of times taking clothes out of the washer that felt nearly dry.
  • Washer uses as little as 11.5 gallons of water per load and exceeds minimum federal standard for energy selling requirements by more the 160% on average.  Less water doesn’t mean less clean either – you can actually view the cycle with the drum light on.
  • Save as much as $3,300 in lifetime energy costs and for every household that uses the new Whirlpool Duet laundry pair; 12,857 gallons of water could be saved every year.  That’s a lot of water!
  • Washer’s EcoBoost option takes the guesswork out of efficiency by reducing the water temperature and increasing agitation duration so the decrease in one (temperature) is offset by the increase in the other (tumbling) to deliver the same results while using less energy. The dryer also has an eco-cycle that helps save energy.  We use this for almost every load of laundry we do.
  • The 7.4 cu. Ft dryer lets you dry more at once, meaning your laundry is done faster and more efficiently.  I’ve dried comforters that normally would have to go to the laundry mat with no problems whatsoever.
  • The Duets are Energy Star® Qualified at CEE Tier III Level.
Not only am I saving energy and money, but I’m having to do fewer loads (these have BIG drums) and I don’t have to babysit the washer and dryer because they automatically adjust the time via sensors.  I also use the Quick Wash cycle for mildly soiled clothing that I need in a jiffy.  In less than 25 minutes I can was a quick outfit start to finish on this setting.  It’s a great option for when you forgot to wash an outfit the night before.  I have used it several times over the past month.

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a test-drive campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Whirlpool and received a complimentary Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer to facilitate my review.
