Cuddle Up for a Great Date Night at Home

These days where the cost of living is slowly but surely increasing, having a great date night out and about can make you go over budget if you are not careful. Such as, a fancy and juicy steak at a restaurant is now becoming a separate cost to the whole meal and a glass of wine is bordering on twenty bucks. But the fancy dinner date does not end there.

You have the entree, dessert and whatever you are doing afterwards because a great date lasts until the early hours of the morning. Clubbing, cocktails, beer and dancing somehow gets on your to do list and suddenly you need to call a taxi to get home.

Sounds worrying, doesn’t it?

But the good news is that you can still have a great date night and save heaps, the location is your own home and home is always where the heart is the most.

Here is how you can have a very romantic night on your couch.

1. If you have kids, hire a babysitter or ask a neighbor or family member to look after them for the night. Not only will you and your significant other have a blast but your kids will too by having a sleepover. If babysitting is not an option then distract them for a few hours in another room. Cable or direct tv usually works the best.
2. Turn the cell phones off, unplug the phone and shut down the laptop, this is your time.
3. Have a movie marathon but make sure you have lots of snacks and beverages. As for the movie marathon, if you and hubby have the same taste then deciding which movies to watch should be a breeze. If not, plan out what type of movies you want to watch beforehand, you could then follow a series, a theme or your favorite actor.
4. Order your favorite take out (you know the one you ate all the time when you first got together?) and then serve it on your best plates. Save time on cooking and enjoy more time to cuddle up on the couch.
5. But you could always cook together and have a playful food fight for some laughs.
6. Create your own beer garden by scourging local liquor stores for local brews and brews overseas. If beer is not entirely your thing, then you could create your own wine tasting event.  If French wine is on the menu, don’t forget your platter of cheeses and slices of baguette.
7. Go down memory lane. Get the albums out or slideshows out on the computer and reminisce about some of your greatest memories as a couple. Watch the first movie you saw at the cinema, listen to that first song you danced along with together or sing it if you guys ventured to karaoke in the past.
8. And no matter what you guys decide to do, always light candles and bathe your entire house in them. The soft glow can make any situation romantic, also some nice incense.

Also remember to relax, you are in your own home and you can get away with wearing your pajamas and sneaking in extra servings of dessert at midnight.
