I’ve come to the realization that the more quality sleep I get the more quality work I’m able to produce.  Have you ever thought about that?  I can sleep 12 hours on a Saturday and feel exhausted the next day when I travel.  Sleeping on a mattress that isn’t my own (insert shameless plug) Nature’s Sleep 8″ St. Bart’s Memory Foam Mattress with my Nature’s Sleep pillow makes for a long night.  I just don’t sleep as well, let alone the fact that hubby has the television on all night in the hotel room.  However, I can get 7 or 8 hours of sleep at home, in my bed with no television playing in the background and wake up feeling so refreshed.  It really is a miracle.  Lately though, no matter what kind of conditions I sleep in I’m not getting the quality sleep I was getting not too long ago and my husband has been waking me up complaining of snoring almost every night.

What does that mean?

Next week I’m heading back for another sleep study.  I sleep with a CPAP machine to help me breath through the night and apparently I need it adjusted or at least that’s what I’m thinking.  With small tweaks to my machine settings, an adjustment to my medication dosage, a good mattress and pillow and I’m sleeping through the night with little to no waking during the night.  When I sleep good I do much better work.  My posts are easier to write (this post took me 2 weeks to complete) and I’m much more efficient with my time.  It also does wonders for my mood.  I believe more than anything in my life that my sleep is what matters most.  So, in 2014 be looking for some more posts about sleep and how to ensure your sleep is QUALITY sleep!

My Tips for Quality Sleep:

  1. Quality Mattress
  2. Quality Pillow
  3. No background noises such as that of a television
  4. No background lighting, not even the cellphone battery light
  5. If you have a sleep disorder be sure your medication and machine (if you have one) are set properly

    I have not had my machine adjusted in years. I am probably due so I will call my sleep lab today.
