Our Sauder Experience
I love buying furniture. In our current home we lack kitchen cabinets and our counters are overflowing with small appliances so I recently went to Sauder.com to find something that I can use to hold us over until we move into a new home with larger cabinets. I was somewhat surprised by the huge collection of cabinets and other storage items. I probably spent a good 3 hours reading reviews, looking at photos, and adding things to my “wish list”. These were all great functions for me while trying to narrow down my final selection.

If you are anything like me you are always looking for good quality home furnishings at affordable prices. If you are anything like me you have also had your fair share of disappointment when it comes time to put it all together. Often what I think is a good deal ends up being a waste of money when the furniture I buy crumbles during assembly or falls to pieces the first time I move it. I am sure most of you have had similar experiences and can “feel my pain.”
Sauder Woodworking is an American brand that started up in the 1930’s and has been manufacturing high quality low cost home furnishings ever since! Sauder Woodworking is actually North America’s top producer of ready-to-assemble (RTA) furniture. With little more than a hammer and a screwdriver you can fasten together a piece of furniture that will last as long as you take care of it. Isn’t that what really matters? What is the point of buying a piece of furniture that is just going to fall apart in a couple of days?
Our kitchen is tiny. Dishes were literally bursting forth from the cabinets and it was a real pain to find anything when I needed it so I decided to add it to our cart. Making the purchase was a breeze at Sauder.com and the order was shipped in a timely manner. The package was a bit heavy even for a burly man such as myself but with a little help from the kids we got the box in the house and unpacked in no time at all!
The instructions are some of the simplest I’ve seen. I’ve built furniture from just about every major retailer and have experienced my fair share of frustration. I have to say putting this cabinet together was surprisingly easy. All of the instructions are in English too!
I was also surprised when I saw how well the pieces were manufactured. Everything lined up just right and went together without a hitch. Well, almost… I actually messed up one of the pieces with my drill because I didn’t have it aligned properly but thankfully they had mercy on me and sent me another piece! I really appreciated how helpful customer service was when I called and the fact nobody tried lecturing me or making me feel like an idiot. When you screw up a piece of furniture you bought you feel bad enough right?
As you can see the Storage Cabinet is very sturdy and for the price you just can’t find furniture like this anywhere. It not only serves the purpose of providing more counter space in our kitchen it also looks good doing it if you know what I mean. The craftsmanship is so good it looks like we spent a fortune on the thing!
