Portion Control Tips with Meals #Under500 by Marie Callender’s

Since I’m working on living a healthier lifestyle I thought I would focus this week on portion control.  Working FT outside of the home sometimes makes portion control more difficult and if it weren’t for the fact that I have my own private office it might be downright impossible.  There are some tips and tricks that I have learned this past week that have been very helpful.  As always, one of the main portion control tips is eating a mean#Under500 Calories, such as Marie Callender’s Steak in Mushroom Sauce for lunch.

Portion Control Tips

  • Remember that your protein (meat) should be about the size of a deck of cards in your hand or approximately 3 oz.
  • Before running for a second helping wait 15 minutes.  This allows time for your brain to register that your belly is full.
  • Drink a glass of water prior to eating your meal.
  • Pre-package your snacks in handy baggies measured with a measuring cup instead of grabbing from the bag.
  • Store snack foods in an inconvenient place out of sight to lessen the temptation.
  • When eating out ask for a to-go container when the meal is served to box up 1/2 for a future meal.  In most cases restaurants are serving double the normal portion sizes.
  • Eat dinners like Marie Callender’s Under 500 calorie meals at work or at home.

Marie Callender’s Steak in Mushroom Sauce Review

Personally this has been my favorite Marie Callender’s meal to date.  The beef is real and recognizable unlike similar brands.  This particular meal comes with a new side – Green Bean Casserole – a favorite from my childhood.  The potatoes are delicious and the gravy simply ties the meal together.  I felt full after eating it and have since bought more for the upcoming meals at work.
