Go Exploring! #GoRVing

Growing up in Upstate NY was beautiful. We used to Go RVing nearly every weekend. One of the benefits of being in the Adirondack Mountains was that we were blessed with a million different places to drive the RV to and if we got bored Canada was just around the corner. It’s one of my fondest childhood memories – exploring! Whether it was the delicious ice cream from Wimple and Edicks (black raspberry was my fav!) or attending the annual Eagle Mills Arts & Craft Festival featuring fresh donuts and apple cider we sure got to travel to a lot of incredible places in my childhood.

The downside to living in Upstate NY was that were several month a year that we couldn’t Go RVing because of the mass amounts of snow. With our pop-up RV it was more difficult to set up and most of the time we just stored it through the winters. However, once we got a motorized RV instead of a towable RV it wasn’t as bad and we got to hit the road on special occasions. There are advantages to the different types of RVs and you can learn more about them on Go RVing’s website. Here are the advantages as I see them:

Towable RV Advantages:

  • Can be much smaller and easier to store
  • Some can be towed with a car
  • Once you are at your site you can detach the vehicle for easier exploration

Motorized RV Advantages:

  • Great for long-term RVing
  • Little to no setup once you are at the site
  • Passengers can ride in the RV allowing more seating for larger families (but remember, all passengers must use seatbelts)

Have you ever thought about renting an RV to see if it is a good fit for your family? Well, there are places around the US that rent RVs for that purpose and for a family of 5 it is very reasonably priced. As a matter of fact for us to rent an RV that sleeps 5 our cost was just under $1,000 for a week with a nice Motorized RV. You can’t buy airline tickets and accommodations for a family of 5 for that price!

Need more reasons to experience RVing?

  • Great way for kids to explore and learn about different places while making friendships.
  • Traveling with pets is no problem, so Fido gets to hit the road with the family.
  • There is nothing more romantic then slipping away in an RV for a weekend at the beach!
  • RVing makes it easy for people with disabilities to be mobile while being able to have their medical equipment (CPap, Oxygen, etc.).
  • Great way to explore and not be tied down to one location.
