Brain Chase the Answer to Summer Learning Loss Starts June 22nd

brain chase starts Collage

This post is part of a campaign with The Motherhood & Brain Chase. I have been compensated, however my opinion cannot be bought.

If you read my earlier article about Brain Chase you probably already know a little about it.  I also gave a way a complimentary registration!  Now I’m reminding you that this is your last chance to register before we kick off this summers challenge on June 22nd!  I recently sat James down and asked him some questions about starting Brain Chase.

Mom: “What are you looking most forward to about Brain Chase?”

James: “Finding the treasure! I am pretty sure I’ll be able to figure it out before anyone else.”

Mom: “What about having to do reading, writing, or math? Or learning a new language?”

James: “I’m so excited about learning Spanish with Rose Stone or whatever you call it. My best friend is Puerto Rican and I’ll be able to talk to him.”

Note: Rose Stone= Rosetta Stone

Mom: “What are you looking most forward to?”

James: “You, my dad and brother said you will help me if I get stuck so it’s kind of a family thing.”

As you can see, he’s pretty excited about it.  We are too and everyone in the house is “jealous” that he is going to be able to use Rosetta Stone to learn Spanish. It’s not too late to sign up for Brain Chase.

What is Brain Chase?

  • 5-week online summer learning challenge for 2nd through 8th graders
  • A massive global treasure hunt powered by reading, writing and math
  • A learning adventure to prevent summer brain drain
  • A motivational tool for getting kids to do online academic work during the summer
  • A personalized learning platform
  • A hunt for a golden mechanical treasure
  • A $10,000 scholarship and trophy

James is heading off to summer camp again this year, but it’s okay because Brain Chase is flexible.

Focus on flexibility.

To help parents who might be worried that registering for Brain Chase this summer isn’t feasible – because their kids will be attending overnight camps, traveling on a family vacation or participating in other activities – here are some details you can share on the program’s flexibility to reassure them:

  • By registering for Brain Chase, your student is committing to do about five hours of focused online academic work each week for five weeks. Because the curriculum is web-based, he or she can complete the work whenever, wherever, and in whatever order he or she prefers.

  • Brain Chase is an online challenge, so you’ll need a high-speed Internet connection. It will work on the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari web browsers. You will be able to complete math, language and reading assignments on tablets. (For the writing assignments, it’s recommended to have a desktop or laptop available.)

  • Brain Chase understands falling behind – the summer can be busy. Brain Chase allows students to catch up on missed work from previous weeks (although they won’t be allowed to work ahead).

  • You can learn more about the flexibility of the program through this post on the Brain Chase blog.

As a reminder, the fun learning adventure runs over the summer with HUGE reward in the end for one lucky participant will get a trip to the ACTUAL The Sunstone of Cortés!I’ll be following along with parents everywhere as we are kept up to date via weekly emailed progress reports and the kids keep track on their dashboard. Throughout the adventure the kids will be mailed three different adventure tools to utilize while trying to solve this years challenge of finding the Sunstone of Cortes.

Getting excited?  Here you can see a video of the Sunstone being made. It is about 12 inches in diameter and has mechanically rotating components that open to reveal the center compartment, where the key to retrieve the $10,000 prize will be hidden.

What are you waiting for? Go register today for Brain Chase!

Teacher referral reward program.

Brain Chase is offering a $15 Staples gift card to teachers for each of their students they refer to Brain Chase. Registrants who hear about Brain Chase from a teacher can simply enter that teacher’s name and school name at registration. The referral rewards can add up to substantial funding for classroom supplies – it’s a great opportunity for a class fundraiser through the PTA or other school organizations.
