Let’s Make a Pact: Healthy Living for Our Families

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of American Heart Association for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

I’m not exactly sure what happened with my youngest son, James, but for the past three or four months he has almost been obsessed with the thought of death and dying. I think it’s probably his age (he is 11) and possibly hormones because I remember being about his age when I would lay in bed at night crying and worrying about getting older. So each night I’ve been having to sit and talk with him about different health related topics and I have been reassuring him that as long as we try to live healthier we shouldn’t be losing sleep over things like this. With all these things we have been talking about it has really made me more conscientious about my health and my family’s health. So that’s why I have been looking online more for resources and tips to help support all the things I’ve been telling him.

Life is Why

The American Heart Association is encouraging moms to make healthy living a priority, to live a healthier, longer life and this movement couldn’t have come at a better time. They are asking moms to share their ‘why’- their reason for living a healthier, longer life. My son is why. What better reason could there be?

So for us that means healthy recipes, more exercise and better choices! We are going to band together with other families and moms because united we can really make a change for a healthier future whether it’s incorporating more fruit and veggies into our diet or spending an extra 15 minutes outdoors playing basketball. These are all simple things we can do. If we run out of ideas we can always visit the AHA because they are a great resource!
