SuperStorm Sandy Images
It was clear early on that Hurricane Sandy was no comparison to Irene who caused a major amount of damage to the East Coast not too long ago. CNN reported continuously that SuperStorm Sandy would be historical.
Two hours before high tide @missylippiatt shared this tweet:
Early in the day on October 29, 2012 damage was already being record as early as 13 hours to Hurricane Sandy making landfall in the US.
As the day progressed a distress from the HMS Bounty was received and it was reported the ship was taking on water and the crew of 17 was forced to abandon ship into two life boats on the coast of NC. Unfortunately due to the conditions the Coast Guard was unable to respond immediately.
Amazing footage of the HMS Bounty crew member rescue by Coast Guard. One is dead and at this time the Captain is lost at sea.
Portions of NJ Atlantic City Boardwalk were reported to be destroyed.
Not only did Sandy bring wind and rain, the south got hit with massive Blizzards with some places receiving over 2 ft. of snow in less than 24 hours.
On October 30th NYC awoke to 50 fires in Queens and devastation throughout…
It is said that Hurricane Sandy, now known as Super Storm Sandy will break records like no other storm…and it isn’t over yet.
My thoughts are with everyone who has felt her wrath.
Sandy was surely a disaster that will be felt in the nortteast for quite awhile. Some people in New Jersey do not expect to have power restored fo a week to ten days.
Those storm photos are intense…so much destruction. The cleanup is going to take a while.
