Samsung Showcase Side by Side Refrigerator at Best Buy

Where do you start when it comes to describing the excitement I had pulsing through my veins the day I found out I was going to be reviewing the Samsung – Showcase 28.7 Cu. Ft. Side-by-side Refrigerator With Thru-the-door Ice And Water – Stainless-steel? I cannot even begin to tell you. Our old refrigerator was falling apart and the seal was worn out on the door but more importantly I couldn’t fit any food in it as it was too small for our family of 4, especially when I had to do recipe creation.  Not only did we waste large amounts of food with improper temperature control, but buying in bulk was out of the question. However, with a new Samsung Showcase Side by Side Refrigerator coming from Best Buy things were about to change!

Let me start by saying the install team was incredibly professional. I’ve had major appliances installed before, but these guys were far more professional and efficient than any others. Whoever the company is that Best Buy subcontracts for delivery and installation they were remarkable. Not only were they extremely careful, but they fully set up the appliance and stayed around to answer all my questions. It was a great experience.

The Exterior

The dual door design gives you easy access to On-The-Go-items with the ShowCase door.  Both are labeled on the exterior to let you know how to open up the refrigerator side and get exactly what you need.  Leave the door open accidentally? The door alarm alerts you when the refrigerator door is left open (energy saving) but if you know you are going to be loading the latest bulk shopping haul on grocery day you can disable this from the panel.  The thru-the door ice and water dispenser offers filtered water and clear, crisp ice. There is a child lock to prevent unsupervised use on the panel and filter storage is in the back of the refrigerator while the ice maker itself is inside the freezer. Unlike many of their competitors the ice maker is in the perfect spot to take up little to no room. The touch-screen controls enable simple operation with the following options:

• Exterior Light (on/off)
• Crushed or Cubed Ice (lock)
• Power Cool
• Power Freeze
• Alarm
• Energy Saver

The Interior (Refrigerator)

This is a big selling point for me. To fully understand the difference I put up a comparison of the Showcase door view on the left (both empty and full) and the InnerCase door view on the right (both empty and full). The Twin Cooling System with metal cooling allows simple temperature management, this is something that was missing from our old refrigerator and I can tell such a difference.  With an 11 year old boy in the house the food showcase fridge door provides quick access to drinks and condiments and other frequently used items.  This is going to be a huge cost savings in our household!

The Interior (Freezer)

I love the high-efficiency LED lighting in both the refrigerator and freezer, it makes it easy to locate food items. I find it especially helpful in the freezer because I tend to pack my freezer and it really inhibits light in most instances. One of my favorite things about the freezer is the power freeze option that quick freezes my food when I get back from grocery shopping. Right under the first shelf there is a drawer that I LOVE; we use it to store ice pops for summer. There is also a shelf that is big enough to store a turkey – added bonus!  The ice maker is in a really great place that takes up very little room to ensure you get enough space for all your food.
