Life Never Sounded So Good: G-Zip and G-Grip Portable Speakers

Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for G-Grip and G-Zip. I received collateral to facilitate my review and a no additional compensation.  These honest opinions are my own.

GZip and GGrip Portable Speakers

Working outside a lot this summer in the garden and with the animals can get painfully difficult some times in the Florida heat.  As weird as it sounds though music seems to motivate me and if there is a particularly good beat I can really get a lot done.  It’s the strangest sort of “high” for me.  When the good song comes on there is nothing like turning it loud and dancing while weeding and harvesting the garden or cleaning the chicken coop.  It isn’t unusual to see me dancing around the chickens on a hot summer day.  We don’t have a fancy sound system installed in the backyard so I have been relying mostly on my iPhone to get get me through but there is only so much the iPhone can do so when I got the opportunity to review the G-Zip and G-Grip portable speakers I was so excited.  My mind instantly started thinking of the things I could use them for:

  • Music at the beach
  • Music on the long bike rides
  • Music while working outside
  • Music while I work

The G-Grip

Not only was the G-Grip easy to set up and sync with my iPhone and my son’s Android phones, but it is “James Proof” and that says a lot.  Any electronic that can survive a day with my 9 year old son get’s my approval.  You can feel how durable they are with their drop tested and crush proof body it makes it the best portable speaker out there for those who love adventure.  They even tested it with over 8 feet drops and crush forces of over 1,339 pounds and it survived.  We used the Bluetooth streaming from our phones when we were at the beach and riding bikes, but in the backyard we used the plug and play feature with the line-in cable that came with the device.  The battery (rechargeable via USB or plug-in power adapter, included) lasted the entire day at the beach with no problem, which was great.  When we used the speaker on our bikes the handy buckled strap made it easy to handle and the compact size made it easy to clip to James’ handlebars of his bike.  He loved that he could control the volume and playback while riding his bike without having to dig his phone out of his pocket.

Sounds quality?  It rivals any other non-portable speaker of it’s size – hands down.  There was just enough bass to keep my husband happy and the clarity was pretty descent as well.  I never played at full volume because it is quite loud without that which was great for outdoors when there are other sounds that can cause distraction.  If you are an avid outdoors person (or a family with a rugged 9-year old boy) this is the perfect portable wireless speaker for you!

The G-Zip

 Go-Zip Portable Travel Speaker

If you are looking for a bang for your buck this is it.  For less than $20 you can have clear, powerful portable sound with this lightweight G-ZIP speaker.  This small portable speaker was great for use when outdoors working in the yard.  The retractable line-in cable which stores easily was really handy for plugging in our device when Bluetooth wasn’t needed.  Compared to other speakers of it’s size we found it to be much more clear and built much sturdier.  Since this is so small and lightweight we let our son use it for his sleepover at his friends.  It slipped into his overnight bag with ease and it was tough enough to withstand 4 nine year old boys.  We especially love the clip bar on the device that makes attaching it to almost anything easy with a carabiner.  Even though this fits in the palm of your hand the lithium-ion rechargeable battery is powerful and lasts up to 8 hours before you need to charge it with the USB.  This is also perfect for use at your desk (hubby took it from me to use at his desk at work) as it isn’t as powerful as it’s sibling the G-GRIP.

We feel confident endorsing both of these portable speakers made by G-Project and we hope to try out some of their other products soon.

Where would you use your portable speakers?
