I was recently afforded the opportunity to review both Mayan Black Onyx™ and House Blend. I normally prefer dark roast but I liked them both equally as each had strengths all to their own.  The Mayan Black Onyx™ is a dark full bodied blend that is sure to please any dark roast fan and the house blend is sure to suit most everyone’s palate.

How do you like your coffee? Light or dark roast? I prefer dark roast because I like the bold flavor. Millstone® Coffee Co. makes a really good dark roast. Their Mayan Black Onyx™ is dark and rich the way coffee is supposed to be and has the most amazingly rich finish. Mayan Black Onyx™ goes great by itself of paired with your favorite cheeses.  There is just something about cheese paired with a good dark roast coffee. The flavor is not too acidic or too bitter and tastes just the way I like it! I thoroughly enjoy the bittersweet taste and for the price you just can’t go wrong. One of the first things you will notice when you try some Mayan Black Onyx is the powerful aroma. Mayan Black Onyx™ is one of the most aromatic blends we have tried in a while. Since smell is a large factor in how good something tastes you will know as soon as you start brewing that Mayan Black Onyx™ is some seriously delicious coffee!

I drink Mayan Black Onyx™ a little different than most dark roasts. Most of the time I end up putting a lot of sweeteners to cut through the bitterness but with Mayan Black Onyx™ I use as little sweetener as possible. I just love the way this stuff tastes. The folks at Millstone® are some regular coffee geniuses if you ask me. I do not know all the technical jargon for what they do but their expertise is evident in every single cup!

• Cheese and Grapes (yes, sounds odd but it is really a nice combination)
• Biscotti
• Muffins

For the House Blend I recommend pairing with

• Fruit Pies
• Caramel Flan
• Chocolate Cake
