For the first time in nearly 30 years I’m “home” capturing the spirit of the holidays with my mom and stepdad. My youngest son and I decided to make the 9 hour drive to North Carolina to come visit for the first time since Grandma moved from NY. We have never seen her new house so we figured there was no better time to pay a visit than for Christmas. It’s really been quite a great experience for us both and something we will treasure forever. From the Hot Chocolate my mom has been making for my son by International Delight to the spiced Egg Nog the adults have been sipping around the fire at night, we have really felt the Spirit of the holidays.
Not only is it our first time spending Christmas with my mom and stepdad, but my sister and her family are joining us on Christmas Eve from Florida as well. My mom picked up some new Milk Hot Chocolate and Dark Hot Chocolate from International Delight for the grandchildren, some whipped cream, and some candy cane sticks too. I’ve never heard of it before, but apparently you can find it at your local grocer. One of the best things about the cocoa is that it’s ready in no time – put it in an 8 oz. cup and heat in the microwave for 45 seconds and you have some warm hot chocolate!
Although she bought it for the children, the adults can enjoy it as well but she really bought the Original Nog and Vanilla Nog for us! I love mine with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top!
