Why We Should Give Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Gifts To Our Loved Ones

Why Do We Gift Loved Ones?

Every so often, an opportunity presents itself to gift a loved one. It may be a birthday, wedding, graduation, a newborn baby, or a celebration of an achievement. Whatever the occasion, we have to show up for our loved ones to support them, and nobody likes to show up empty-handed.

What Most People Don’t Know About Gifts

Gifting a loved one may sound easy in theory, but a lot of work and thought goes into selecting a gift. First, you have to understand the person you’re gifting because as much as you like a particular gift you have in mind, they might not like it or find a use for it. Imagine gifting your grandmother a motorbike! Sure, it’s a fantastic gift, but she’ll probably never ride it.

How to Give A Thoughtful Gift

You’ve probably heard the saying, “it’s the thought that counts.” Selecting a gift to give a loved one is the hardest part of gifting. Buying, wrapping, and delivering the gift are the more manageable bits. A thoughtful gift will go a long way in showing your care and support for a loved one, rather than just buying them something expensive and thoughtless.

The first step to giving a thoughtful gift is to know your loved one well. If you’re not regularly in their life, spend time with them before gifting them to understand them deeply. Please get to know their likes, dislikes, and perspectives on matters.

If it’s not possible for you to often see them physically, stay in touch using the many ways available such as phone calls, text messages, or any social media platforms you share. Understand their situation so that you may know the best and practical gift they would appreciate.

How To Give A Sustainable And Eco-Friendly Gift

Any gifts you give your loved ones should be sustainable, at least to them. You wouldn’t want to see your gift in the trash can the next day! I once received an automatic mechanical watch as an amazing gift. The challenge came when it was time to service it; the service amount of the watch was the same as my rent money! I had to shelf it, to wait for when I could afford to service it comfortably.

My watch was not a sustainable gift for me, as it was gifted with love. Assessing a loved one’s lifestyle and needs will enable you to establish a sustainable gift to give them, one that can fit into their daily lives seamlessly.

While gifting our loved ones, we should consider our ecological footprint on the planet. Our world has already been significantly affected by human activities. Our gifts should be eco–friendly, with zero or minimum effects on the environment.

An example of sustainable and eco–friendly gifts are flowers. Flowers suit most if not all gifting occasions and getting great flowers for gifts requires using renowned florists such as Pearsons Florist. They have been in business since 1969; therefore, I doubt there’s little if any they don’t know about gifting flowers.

There’s no perfect gift for a loved one, but if it’s thoughtful, sustainable, and eco–friendly, they’ll love it!
