Welcome Aboard the Newly Renovated Freedom of the Seas

Welcome aboard the newly renovated Freedom of the Seas

We would like to thank Royal Caribbean for inviting us aboard the Freedom of the Seas for a special two night cruise. The timing was perfect and a weekend getaway was just what Lisa and I needed. We have been working hard lately and were starting to feel a little cooped up. Getting out of the office was just what the doctor ordered.

We were made to feel right at home aboard the Freedom of the Seas as soon as we arrived. Customs was a breeze and check in was smooth sailing. We were unpacking in our cabin in what felt like record time. Our cabin was an Outside Ocean View with Balcony which we were completely satisfied with. It’s hard to go wrong with a balcony view of the ocean am I right?

Our first activity was on and popping almost immediately as we took off on a scavenger hunt through the ship collecting raffle tickets. On the scavenger hunt we learned where everything was located and how to navigate the ship. In just a few hours we felt like we knew the ship backwards and forwards thanks to the new digital signage.

We especially enjoyed viewing the newly renovated staterooms. Here are a couple of our favorite rooms!

I definitely wouldn’t hate staying in The Presidential Suite.

For our shore excursion we chose to sail the beautiful waters of Nassau and snorkel a reef. Even during winter this excursion was impossible to pass up. If you’ve ever seen the water in the Bahamas you’ll understand. The water may have been cooler than normal but 70s are still warmer than most places in full blown winter am I right?

There is a picture to be made virtually anywhere you point a lens in Nassau. On our tour we passed multi-million dollar oceanfront estates and yachts. Scattered about are picturesque piles of debris and even shipwrecks!

I was so excited to use my underwater camera again. As soon as I hit the water I flipped it on and it worked for all of 20 seconds. I was so bummed. Thanks to all the brightly colored fish and things I was quickly distracted. Guess we’ll just have to keep those memories to ourselves…

We stretched our sea legs up and down the streets of Nassau. To walk off some calories and put steps on our Fitbits we decided to explore on foot. We visited the Straw Market and perused the Duty-free shops around Bay Street. We took in as much as we could in the time we were allotted. I am really proud of Lisa for keeping up with me so well!

From the President’s welcome on the Royal Promenade to the Farewell Reception we felt as though we were being wined and dined by seasoned professionals. Every event and every meal seemed to run flawlessly and to be perfectly orchestrated. The crew aboard The Freedom of the Seas was top notch and never seemed to miss a beat. Thanks again Royal Caribbean for an amazing experience!

Discolusre: Two day cruise provided by Royal Caribbean all opinions are mine.

  1. WOW!!! Your photos are stunning. Makes me want to go back ASAP.

  2. Gosh that’s beautiful! I’ve always thought I would feel claustrophobic on a cruise ship but the bedroom photo with the bright windows makes it look/feel very open. One day I hope to talk my husband into a cruise!

  3. We love to cruise but we have yet to cruise Royal Caribbean. The ship looks beautiful! Your photography is amazing.

  4. Mike and I have actually been eyeing this ship to get married on. We want to do a wedding cruise, and after sailing Royal Caribbean last year, I cant imagine any cruise line being able to top it! So beautiful.

  5. They are not messing around with that ship, are they? What a beauty!

  6. What gorgeous photos and what a fun adventure! We’ve not yet taken a cruise but it looks like so much fun and the Freedom of the Seas quite inviting and luxurious. I certainly wouldn’t mind a stay in the presidential suite either!

  7. What an awesome trip, the pictures are stunning! I never had any desire to go on a cruise but hte more I see from those who have done them the more I want to try one. Thanks for sharing!

  8. Just the views alone are amazing. But that room, wow! I would never want to leave.

  9. I need a vacation this looks so nice and wow that presidential suite would be heavenly!

  10. I’ve never been on a cruise ship, so I probably find these pics more amazing than most. Love the images. They really help me imagine the ship and area.
