Welch’s Harvest Grants For Your Child’s School

Did your local schools have budget cuts this year?  Ours did.  Huge.  They took away bus transportation for all middle and high school children that live within a mile radius of the schools.  Unfortunately we live in a rural area where there are no sidewalks and in many cases there is no shoulder.  Our elementary schools lost their after school program.  It’s now run by a private company that charges higher prices.  Not only did we see those changes this year, but they also took extracurricular sports out of the  middle schools.  The list goes on and that is why it is important to get the word out about Welch’s Harvest Grants program.

Please, email you child’s teacher or give them a call and tell them about this opportunity.  Two schools in every state will be selected to receive a Welch’s Harvest Grant. Winning schools will receive a customized indoor or outdoor garden package filled with a variety of tools, seeds, educational materials, and more. Five (5) $1,000 gardens and ninety-five (95) $500 gardens will be awarded.  This is an excellent opportunity for your child to benefit and learn about gardening.  What child doesn’t like playing in the dirt?

For more information or to apply, please refer your child’s teacher to the Welch’s Harvest Grants site.
