Many of us struggle to eat the recommended amount of fruit and veg every day. If you fall into the category that don’t, maybe smoothies are the way forward for you. Smoothies are great because not only do they taste great, you can also cram them full of lots of different fruit and vegetables. By adding a large range of fruit and veg into your smoothie, you can create a convenient way to get your five-a-day.
All you need to create wonderful smoothies is a blender. Blenders have become cheaper and cheaper in recent years, and you can pick a really good one up for a great price nowadays. We advise you to stay away from the Nutribullet brand, though, as the recent Nutribullet lawsuit has found that they might explode!
How to make a great smoothie
If you are new to the smoothie world, welcome! Smoothies are extremely simple to make and taste absolutely amazing. If you have never made a smoothie before and are not sure the best method, here is how we do it.
Fill the blender about halfway up with ice, and blend that until it is nice and crushed. Then add any liquids you are putting into your smoothie first and give it a quick pulse. After pulsing the liquids and ice, add your solid ingredients and blend until it reaches the consistency that you prefer. It will probably take you a fair few attempts to figure out how you like your smoothie. Blend for less time for a thicker drink or for longer and with more ice if you prefer a thinner liquid.
So what amazing smoothies can you make, I hear you asking. Well, without further ado, these are our favorite healthy smoothie recipes!
