As many of you may already know I moonlight as a Play Ambassador (writer) on LetsPlay.com, a community partnership led by Dr Pepper Snapple Group to get kids and families active nationwide. They are currently promoting the Let’s Play Pledge asking that you play it forward and pledge at least 60 extra minutes of active play per week with your children.
If you haven’t ever checked out their site and/or forums you should because they are loaded with great information. Not only can you find endless ideas for play ideas, but you can find great articles and forums to share your ideas or ask questions. Let’s Play also support projects all around the country that make play possible for all communities regardless of their financial access.
The first Let’s Play initiative is a $15 million, three-year commitment to KaBOOM!, a national non-profit that’s saving play by ensuring there is a great place to play within walking distance of every child. Together, through Let’s Play, Dr Pepper Snapple Group and KaBOOM! will build or fix up 2,000 playgrounds by the end of 2013, benefiting an estimated five million children.

We like to fill up a sandbox with dirt (from the nursery–it’s fine and clean–for dirt that is) and then hose it down and play in the mud. It gets hot in West Texas (it’s already over 100) so the mud is nice and cool. I have two boys, so they love it!
