Parental Controls for Online Activities: The Un-Carrier T-Mobile Introduces FamilyMode

When I was young the biggest worry my parents had as far as communication was concerned was who I was sending love letters or passing notes to in school. There was no such thing as the digital age and all the information I got was from an encyclopedia. As a parent of a young child, it can be pretty scary what kids can do with today’s phones and it is even scarier what the kids have digital access to with a swipe of the finger.  If you are concerned about your kids’ online activities, you are not alone.

Companies have tried offering parental controls to put our minds at ease, but none of them are able to offer a comprehensive solution. They do not tell you how much time the kids are spending on each app or how much time is on social media or gaming. No other carriers can help you control the time your kids spend on Xbox, smart TVs, computers and other Wi-Fi devices. This is important to parents and it’s very important to me but no one had a solution for me.

Until now…

T-Mobile has introduced the T-Mobile FamilyMode app will offer me some control over not only his phone usage, regardless of where he is located, but full device usage including his X-box, Smart TV, and PC. Since I’m at work when he gets out of school or while schools out on the break, this is important to me.  I can also manage how many hours he is spending sitting on the computer or playing his X-box during the day without worrying he will find a workaround.  The T-Mobile FamilyMode Home Base will help control all our families devices, from our Smart TVs to our smartphones and gaming devices. There will be no sneaking around parental controls by jumping on Wi-Fi, not that our son is sneaking usage when he isn’t supposed to be.  You can sign up in retail stores, online or by calling 1-800-T-MOBILE.

I see so much value in this and I think it is really going to help us curb our son’s usage of his computer and video game use during the upcoming school year. Having so much more control without actually having to check up on him all the time is going to be great! Can’t wait to really try it over the next few weeks!

And while you are adding your new T-Mobile FamilyMode to your account why not look into a T-Mobile ONE family account if you have two or more lines? It comes with a huge amount of  Un-carrier benefits at no extra cost, like Family Allowances.  You can monitor talk and text usage on the lines on your T-Mobile account. For families, this is a great way for parents to manage their kids’ smartphone activity. Our favorite is the Netflix On Us where you can get a standard 2-screen subscription at no extra charge!  There are tons more benefits like Gogo Inflight for travelers like me where you can get unlimited texting during flights and 1 free hour of smartphone Wi-Fi on all domestic flights! The options go on and on.
