Share Breakfast: It’s the Most Important Meal of the Day

share breakfastIt is the most important meal of the day, but there are people out there that skip it regularly either due to hectic schedules, poverty, or just because they aren’t hungry.  It’s a shame really.  It is so important for our children (and for us) to have a healthy, balanced breakfast every morning in order to make it through the day at our best.  Growing up I had a friend whose mother never had enough food in the house for breakfast and every day we invited her over for a bowl of cereal and cup of juice.  We always found a reason to make sure she had something to eat without hurting her pride.  As an adult with children of my own we have kept a similar tradition when the boy down the street let us know they didn’t have enough food for his breakfast.

Why would we do something like that?

Because it is our responsibly.

There is no reason that anyone should go hungry and Kellogg’s Share Breakfast program is a call to action to ensure no one does.   It’s easy to get involved and you can do it just by sharing information and making others aware.  If you need more convincing that breakfast is import here are more reasons:

  • When a child is full he/she is more focused in the classroom.
  • When a child is full he/she has the resources needed to be active.
  • When a child has breakfast absence and tardiness generally decrease.
  • When a child eats breakfast their mood generally improves.

How to Join the Share Breakfast Movement

Families across the U.S. can join Diggs in the Share Breakfast movement and give the power of breakfast to kids in need. Every time you do one of the following, Kellogg’s will share breakfast to a kid who might otherwise go without:

  1. Share the public service announcement with friends.
  2. Like or comment on the Share Breakfast Facebook page.
  3. Pin the public service announcement on Pinterest.
  4. Post on Twitter using the #ShareBreakfast hashtag.

Visit ShareBreakfast.com to watch the public service announcement with Diggs and learn about all the ways families can get involved for Share Breakfast 2013.

I just recently received a bunch of fun breakfast cups, banners, and cereal from Kellogg’s and this weekend we are hosting a community breakfast featuring fresh juice, cereal, assorted fruits, and milk for the people living on our street.  It’s going to be a lot of fun and my intention is to let others here know about the program in hopes of getting them involved as well.

What will you do?

Here are some tweets you can share via Twitter:

  • Did u know 1 in 5 kids may go without breakfast every day? @Kelloggs_US will share a breakfast for every RT #ShareBreakfast
