Quick Tips for a Healthy Summer featuring 100% Florida Orange Juice

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Florida Orange Juice for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Now that summer is just around the corner and the kids are out of school it’s more important than ever for us to make sure they start the day right.  It’s easy to get off schedule when there is no school in session so we make it a rule that everyone is up each morning by 9:30am, otherwise everyone would miss breakfast and that is no way to start the day.  As passed down from my grandmother our breakfast almost always include an 8 oz. glass of 100% Pure Florida Orange Juice.

I am sure you knew that an 8 oz. serving of 100% Pure Florida Orange Juice is an excellent source of vitamin C, almost every knows that already, but did you know that it’s also a good source of folate and potassium?  According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans these are nutrients are under consumed in the US. Based on a 2,000-calorie diet an 8 oz. glass of OJ provides half the USDA-recommended daily fruit intake for most adults and contains no added sugars or artificial sweeteners found in many fruit juice cocktails and sports drinks.

So what are some ideas on how to incorporate Florida Orange Juice into your family’s diet? Nationally recognized nutrition expert, Kathleen M. Zelman, MPH, RD had some suggestions she shared with the Florida Department of Citrus that I thought I would share with you:

  • Choose leaner cuts of meat to grill and add 100% Florida Orange Juice to your marinades.
  • When traveling plan ahead with a portable cooler stocked with smart snacks such as hummus and veggies, granola bars, nuts, and 100% Florida Orange Juice to help give you energy and nutrients to get through the day.
  • Switch up what’s for breakfast by adding 100% Florida Orange Juice instead of water to your pancake batter to give it a new twist.
