My Top 5 Ways to Relieve Stress #StessLess2BmyBest #CG

I am really good at stress.  Whether it’s eustress or distress, it’s still stress and your body still experiences the fight or flight reaction.  If I had to function with no stress in my life I’m not really  sure how successful I would be at it. I am not alone. Times are changing and the people in this world seem to be flying around with meetings, works, kids, and a million responsibilities.  The idea of multi-tasking has nearly debilitated Americans because we just can’t keep up and the stress gets to be overwhelming.

In my life I experience this regularly. I get so bogged down with eustress and distress that I accomplish nothing sometimes. The problem with that is – it stresses me out! However, I’m an expert at getting back on track and have found that my top 5 ways to relieve stress are nearly foolproof so I’m sharing them with you today!

My Top 5 Ways to Relieve Stress

1. Relieve Stress: Get a Massage

Although James (my husband) is a licensed massage therapist it doesn’t mean I get massages every day. However, he is usually really good about knowing when it’s time for me to get one as he has a way at sensing when I’m particularly stressed out. I love using lavender oils for my massage on particularly stressful days. If you have never had a massage before you are definitely missing out. There is a lot of research supporting that massages reduce stress significantly on physical and psychological levels. The only drawback is that you are controlled by someone else’s schedule therefore it isn’t alway an option.

2. Relieve Stress: Enjoy a RESCUE

Pop a RESCUE in your mouth and enjoy natural stress relief. These are particularly awesome when you are on the go! I carry the Black Currant flavor RESCUE Pastilles in my purse and have the Orange/Elderflower flavor in my desk.  I haven’t tried the RESCUE Pearls yet (gel capsules) but my hubby uses the RESCUE Sleep Liquid Melts for bedtime.  He has trouble sleeping and these are great for him as they don’t make him groggy in the morning. I find these particular good because there are no side effects and they are natural. My mom used them to help her deal with the stress of raising me (at least that’s why I think she used them) as did many generations before me.

You can find RESCUE at your local CVS, Walgreens, Whole Foods, Sprouts and wherever you find natural products.  You can also download a BOGO coupon here and follow @BachRESCUE on Twitter.

3. Relieve Stress: Have a Cup of Chamomile Tea

When I have the chance during a particularly stressful time there is nothing like curling up on the couch with a nice hot glass of chamomile tea and honey.  Whether it’s true or not that chamomile possesses anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) properties it works for me to treat stress. Besides, it tastes good.

4. Relieve Stress: Read a Book in the Hammock

During the day you will find me quite often escaping to my backyard into my hammock with a good book.  As you can see, our kitty isn’t usually far behind. How can anyone be anxious and stressed when they lay outside with the peaceful sounds of nature (and golfers)? I love our hammock too because it is pretty big and feels like an awesome hug!

5. Relieve Stress: Take a Bath

Finally, when the day is over there is nothing that beats a hot bubble bath to melt away the stress. Hubby is awesome at preparing the tub for me to escape into and if you don’t have a bath pillow I highly recommend buying one!

Stress isn’t always a bad thing, but it can be too much and sometimes you just need a plan on how to get away from it all. Whether you pop in a RESCUE or settle in for a bubble bath just remember that it won’t last forever. Relax.

  1. Mary Ambrosino says

I always need to relieve stress when driving with my daughter so Rescue sounds great and the other tips would work after I am finally out of the car. She is a little too aggressive of a driver for my comfort.

  2. I have been meaning to get a bath pillow. I love to take relaxing baths as well. I usually like to pour several drops of Lavender essential oil into my bath water to get the maximum stress relief out of my bath time. I agree, massage is great too.
