This month just about everybody in my family has come down with something or another. Lots of sick time has been used. My husband even spent time in the hospital and had surgery. I’ve been sick and having health problems of my own. Even the youngest has been sick. Whether it’s a general practitioner or specialist, we’ve all been to the doctor multiple times which also means lots of trips to the pharmacy. I never used to look forward to picking up prescriptions but that doesn’t bother me all that much now that CVS is in Target stores.

My favorite part of having CVS in my local Target? Picking up my monthly prescriptions using the mobile app.

CVS Mobile App: (now Apple Watch compatible), helps notify customers when prescriptions are ready, and makes it easy to refill prescriptions and check information at a glance. Features in the app include:

  • Drug Interaction Checker: Checks whether a prescription will have any potentially adverse reactions with other medications
  • Pill Identifier: Helps users identify what a pill is by entering in descriptive information such as shape, color and imprint
  • Refill Prescriptions: Users can import prescriptions for refill from their secure medication history, or use the Scan to Refill feature to simply scan a prescription’s barcode and order it in one easy step
  • MedRemind: Helps customers stay on track with their medication schedules by enabling them to customize reminders to take their prescriptions and notifications to caregivers when a dose is missed.

Additional digital tools are offered to CVS Health customers through the CVS Pharmacy mobile app, including:

  • Apple Watch App Integration: The CVS Pharmacy mobile app is now Apple Watch compatible, to help notify customers when prescriptions are ready, and make it easy to refill prescriptions and check information at a glance
  • Scan Paper Script: This tool enables customers to quickly and conveniently start the prescription fill process by capturing a photo of their written prescription through the CVS Pharmacy mobile app
  • Insurance Card Scan: Customers can easily share new insurance information with their pharmacist by taking a photo of their insurance card, instantly updating data across our store systems
  • MedRemind: This tool helps customers stay on track with their medication schedules by enabling them to customize reminders to take their prescriptions at the right time and notifications to caregivers when a dose is missed

When I have prescriptions to fill, I usually find myself waiting on them. In the past, the time I spent waiting was completely wasted. I usually passed the time sitting by the pick-up counter scrolling on Facebook and waiting for one of our names to be called. The longer I would have to wait the more I would get stressed out. Especially if I needed to pick up any groceries.
I think CVS moving to Target is the best thing ever. Being able to shop while I wait does a lot for my stress levels. I don’t mean shopping like you find at your average pharmacy either. I mean real shopping like you do at your favorite big-box store. I love being able to spend my time picking up things my family needs instead of just waiting. When the kids sick it’s nice to be able to find all I need to make him feel better as well as the ingredients to make some homemade chicken soup.

When your family is having a hard time like mine has been this month, convenience makes a world of difference. When everybody in the household is sick or has some kind of health problem, life can become real difficult real fast. Shopping CVS and Target saved my family a lot of time and money this month. Every time I picked up a prescription I was able to pick up groceries and things we needed around the house. I saved not only on the prescriptions I bought but everything else too.
