Part of my promise to myself this year was to get more organized. As part of that promise I have decided to label everything and I mean nearly everything. If I don’t put labels on things then one of the males in my household will have an excuse as to why something isn’t put away. It isn’t something that happens overnight and right now we are still working on getting everything in order, but we are pretty close to having it all done.
Getting Organized
Hubby loved the idea of labeling and decided that he would take care of all the household tools so that they were easier to find. I took it upon myself to label his six foot high toolbox for work too (don’t you love my label?). Getting organized and spring cleaning are always easier when everyone is on board. As a PTouchAmbassador I made it my mission to motivate everyone and get them thinking about the benefits of getting organized.
Another project we got working on right away was labeling the countless number of cords and chargers we have laying around. This took a lot of time, but now we know exactly whose charger is whose and what cord goes with what electronic device. We ended up with an entire plastic tub of useless cords to products we no longer own or that no longer work. It was liberating getting rid of things.
Getting organized isn’t just about cleaning up and label where things are located. It also involves getting the household budget under control. Finances are now managed with calendars and organizers that are labeled clearly – personal and business. All our receipts are located in on file cabinet clearly labeled by year and but personal or business expense. Next April tax season is going to look much different than it did this year.
Brother P-touch
This project is being sponsored by Brother P-touch. I am using the handheld PT-H100 and it has been great for the job at hand. I love the fact that the laminated tape can be used both indoors and outdoors and that it is so easily portable. My youngest son loves that there are different design formats and Deco mode patterns. He even designed a pet themed label for his bedroom door!
Here are some of the features of the label maker I’m using:
One-touch keys – quickly access font sizes, styles, frames and patterns
Portable, handheld design – perfect for “on-the-go” use
Cable labeling feature to organize your wires and cables
Uses Laminated, “TZe” tapes up to 12mm wide – great for indoor or outdoor use
Easy-access memory, store up to 9 “Favorite” labels
12 Deco Mode patterns, plus 9 Auto Design formats
Print 1 or 2 lines of text
Label faster using one of the decorative, pre-formatted label designs
Split-back labels for easy peel and stick
Operates on 6 x “AAA” batteries (not included)
Stay tuned to a follow up post later this month where I will be giving you a final glimpse into our organizing of our home. Be sure, in the meantime, to join our conversation with Brother and the P-Touch Ambassadors on Facebook!
