I have to tell you that it had been years since I really shopped in a Kmart. I think it may have been before Sears became affiliated with them, I’m not entirely sure. Last month I saw a few posts on some sites about backyard makeovers where you had to guess where the bloggers got their products for the makeovers. I was amazed at some of the ideas they had and the budgets they worked with so when I was contacted to work with them I jumped at the chance!
Tips for an Outdoor Mini-Makeover
- As mom’s we ALWAYS think about the kids, but we need to remember to incorporate ourselves into the equation. I found the cutest outdoor bar set ever and plan on adding it into our backyard oasis soon.
- Don’t forget to include a nice, comfortable space to relax. Having a nice relaxing space to read or simply enjoy a conversation is as important as adult space.
- The grill is what everything centers around so we made sure we had this covered with both an a gas grill AND a huge, awesome charcoal grill. Each of them have their benefits and we use them both equally if you have the space.
- Accessories! Whether you add lights, lanterns, flowers, or cushions you HAVE TO have accessories! A simple colorful flower in a nice planter is all it takes.
Although we didn’t purchase the bar this time around we did purchase new Adirondack Chairs and a Table along with table coverings for our picnic table. We also purchased an umbrella for some shade and a base that was on sale for less than $15 dollars. The umbrella is great, the stand not so much and we will be returning it this weekend. I suggest purchasing the more expensive umbrella stand and not the plastic one because our umbrella has fallen over twice. The return policy at Kmart is great and I know we will no problem returning the defective umbrella stand.
The accessories make the mini-makeover. You can put flowers almost anywhere and they will make everything look great. We found tons of choices in the Garden department. There were also tons of choices for lighting and we chose a few different things including solar lanterns and fire pots. I especially love the water fountains and bought one for our front yard, however we haven’t decided on which one is the best for the backyard space yet. Suggestions? I want the Garden Oasis Cascade Pot Fountain and they didn’t have it in stock so I’m hoping it will come in soon to round out our makeover.
This is the grill I wanted originally because our grill grates on our gas grill were rusted and I was having a hard time finding them – however, after two days of going back and forth we decided to buy new parts for our grill from Kmart and pick up a charcoal grill instead of another gas grill. I’m a HUGE fan of cooking outdoors and although gas is easy, charcoal just tastes better to me. So we purchased a Masterbuilt Deluxe Full Size Grill so we can get rid of our tiny little tabletop grill we were using.
Do you like the difference? I was pleasantly surprised and ever since we had our party last weekend we have been outside every day grilling. Also, you can follow Kmart’s Facebook page here and tweet with @KmartDealsNnews.
