How To Safely Celebrate Mother’s Day

Thanks to the novel Coronavirus pandemic, holidays have looked a bit different over the past year. We’ve traditionally celebrated the most important days of the year by gathering with loved ones over food and drink. This past year, however, we’ve had to find creative ways to celebrate with the ones we’ve loved without being physically present.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner and concerns about health and safety still in place, many are left wondering how to celebrate the moms in their lives if they’re unable to be present with them. Good news: we’re here to help. Read on to learn our favorite ways to safely celebrate Mother’s Day in 2021.

Set Up a Family Video Chat

One thing’s for certain: video chatting applications are the VIPs of the Covid-19 pandemic. Thanks to applications like FaceTime, Zoom, and more, we’ve been able to chat face-to-face with our loved ones while still keeping safe. They’ve allowed us quality time with our loved ones, no matter how far away they may be.

This Mother’s Day, set up a good old-fashioned family video chat. Rather than holding an open forum, give the call a bit of direction by making a plan ahead of time. Ask everyone to prepare a toast or share a memory of the moms in the group. Though you may not physically be together, the warmth of the love you share will help you feel close and make the day special for the most important women in your lives.

Have a Socially Distanced Lunch

It’s warming up outside, which means one thing: it’s outdoor dining season! Spend time with the moms in your life while still maintaining social distancing standards by meeting outdoors for lunch.

For proper safety, forgo restaurant dining and grab takeout to share. Better yet, cook one of mom’s favorite meals and pre-package it in individual servings. This will eliminate the potential for spreading germs while sharing food. Remember to stay 6+ feet apart from each other at all times and, though it may be hard, no hugs or touching. The most important thing is to safely share in quality time together.

Set Up a Mother’s Day Gift Delivery

If social distanced meet-ups aren’t quite right for you, or if the mothers in your life are too far to visit, set up mother’s day delivery gifts to make mom feel special.

These days, you can get just about anything delivered. It’s not just fruit baskets anymore. Choose from floral arrangements, dessert baskets, charcuterie selections, and more. Simply pick mom’s favorite gifts, personalize a note, and have them delivered to her door!

A Mother’s Day gift delivery is an easy and meaningful way to show mom you’re thinking about her. She’ll be delighted to discover a surprise on her doorstep, and she’ll have a few lovely treats to enjoy over the next few days!

Send Snail Mail

In today’s digital world, sometimes there’s nothing sweeter than a piece of snail mail. If mom’s an old-fashioned gal, buy her a card and write her a note to tell her how much she means to you. Not only will it surely warm her heart, but it will be a memento for her to hold onto for years to come.

Better yet, strike up a pen pal correspondence with mom. Write her a letter and ask her to write back. You can tell her about a funny thing that happened to you recently, update her on life happenings, or even send her a small gift like a pressed flower or photograph to help her feel close. The back and forth is sure to be sweet, Plus, you’ll be left with keepsakes to pass down for generations to come.

Mother’s Day may look a bit different this year, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be special. With these ideas, you can safely celebrate the important moms in your life and help them feel like the wonderful women they are.
