Hawk’s Landing Golf Club – Marriott Orlando World Center

Hawks Landing Golf Club

I live on a golf course.

I don’t play golf.

I have always wanted to learn. I’ve even worked at a golf course in the past, but I’ve never had the opportunity to play until Hawk’s Landing Golf Club invited me to their “Links & Drinks” group media experience in March at the Orlando World Center Marriott. As part of this VIP group, I got to choose between a group tour and golf lesson, as well as lunch or to play the course. As amazing as a day on the golf course at this gorgeous par-71 golf course sounded, (including surprise and delight stations, including a Bloody Mary bar on hole 3 and build-your-own-burger station at the turn and a dedicated hole for Foot Golf) I choose to learn a bit about the sport from the famous golf pro, Mr. Bill Madonna from the Bill Madonna Golf Academy.

Our VIP day began with some great golf SWAG and a nice light breakfast. We learned a lot about the course and got to meet a bunch of different people from Hawk’s Landing as well as the Orlando World Center Marriott. The course looked beautiful from our view, and I was really excited, as well as nervous, about our golf lesson.

Getting a group lesson with Bill was amazing. He is a Golf Magazine Top 100 Golf Instructor and in the short time we had with him I probably learned more than most people learn in a year! I was just amazed at how simple his approach was and that in no time I was able to swing confidently knowing exactly what mistakes I was making and how to correct them. Granted, I’m not a pro and I consider myself a novice, but at least I know how to stand correctly and tee-off. I now sit in my yard (I live on the first hole at a course in Central Florida) and watch advanced players make simple mistakes that I wouldn’t make thanks to my golf lesson I had at Hawk’s Landing.

Where else can locals come and enjoy a gorgeous course like this? People come from all over the world to play this course, and it’s a must for any golf fan traveling to Disney. Why? Well, it’s designed by noted golf architect Robert Cupp Jr. to begin with! The 18-Hole Championship Golf Course is challenging as well as beautiful boasting a scenic blend of native Florida wildlife and tropical vegetation. The course is located at the AAA Four-Diamond Orlando World Center Marriott right down the street from Mickey’s house.

When all is said and done you can enjoy yourself and grab a bite at the Top 10 “world’s coolest hotel slides” by ABC News, Falls Pool Oasis and the Poolside Bar and Grill. Located just off the pool you will find comfortable table-top dining with a Floribbean fare and cocktails (even served in pineapples).  There’s no reason to go anywhere else.
