Halloween Horror Nights 24 and Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food #HHN24

Confession: I am not a huge fan of Mexican food.  I will eat it occasionally when my family bugs me about it, but it isn’t often that I suggest eating out Mexican and it’s even more rare if I cook it at home.  Not sure why but it’s probably because we didn’t have it much growing up other than taco night.  With that said, I have since figured out that I actually LOVE authentic Mexican Food and ANTOJITOS Authentic Mexican Food in particular. We were seated almost immediately even though we arrived nearly 30 minutes prior to our reservation.  I will caution you that there was quite a line right before Halloween Horror Nights opened to the public as everyone seemed to have the same idea – dinner first.

Drinks

The drinks were simply amazing.  From the authentic Mexican Coca-Cola (my youngest loved the bottle) to the wide variety of margaritas and imported beers.  There is something on the menu to quench everyone’s thirst.  If you want a REAL margarita though, you don’t want to skip Antojitos – hubby said it’s the best one he has ever had.

Appetizers

The problem with ANTOJITOS is that there are so many things on the menu that stand out it’s hard to pick the one thing that was better than the next.  We ordered the Esquites Asados because it looked interesting and was recommended by our server (see bottom right hand photo).  Made with roasted corn, queso fresco, jalapeño mayonnaise, and ancho chile and served with homemade tortilla chips (6.50) this was simply amazing.  It was sweet and savory and definitely something you don’t want to miss out on. However, save room for your appetizer because the guacamole cart was equally impressive. It was freshly prepared tableside with avocado and your choice of lime, tomato, garlic, red onion, green olives, and cilantro. We took a little of everything and it was as yummy as it sounds.

Main Dishes

Proportions were large and filling.  From the enchiladas to the delicious Churrasco steak there wasn’t a bad meal to be had.  The rice and beans were most and flavorful.  The steak was prepared perfectly and the sweet chile ancho hubby had was great (although some people do not like the texture he had no complaints).

All in all ANTOJITOS Authentic Mexican Food was the perfect place to enjoy a bite to eat before…

Halloween Horror Nights

Prepared to experience Universal Studios Orlando like you have never experienced it before…petrified!  Halloween Horror Nights is back from now until November 1st!

Featuring:

  • 8 Terrifying Haunted Houses
  • Multiple Spine-Chilling Street Experiences
  • Outrageous Live Show
  • Exciting Rides & Attraction

We went through every haunted house they had and each time we were surprised by the bone-chilling realism.  Inside the Walking Dead I expected to have Rick pop up around the corner to save me from the zombies.  While experiencing Halloween my son nearly had a heart attack when Michael Myers’ night of horror began. The uneasy, freakishness and twisted horror of Giggles & Gore, Inc gave me nightmares for days and quite honestly I will never look at a clown again in the same way.

the purge

The street experiences were a nice twist on how Universal Studios transformed into Halloween Horror Nights. From The Purge to The Bayou of Blood there is something waiting for you behind every corner. Be aware – you never know who is walking beside you!

rocky horror

If that doesn’t interest you maybe you need to catch a show.  The Rocky Horror Picture Show Tribute was simply amazing and definitely entertaining!

Overall, the entire experience during Halloween Horror Nights is one you won’t want to miss, but hurry there are only a few more select nights between now and November 1st!

Upcoming dates:

October 22nd – 26th

October 29th – November 1st
