If your hair lacks volume, don’t worry. As you will see, there are plenty of easy ways to fix this problem…
Use volumizing products
The most effective and simplest solution is to wash your hair with a volumizing shampoo. You can use it every time you wash it or just when you need to. It may also be worth switching to a volumizing conditioner.
Change your parting
In some cases, simply changing your parting can have a dramatic effect. Particularly if you go from parting it down the middle to a side-parting.
Use hot curlers
Hot curlers are great for adding volume. You don’t need many to get fantastic results. Best of all you are only applying gentle heat, which is not likely to cause a lot of damage. This short video shows you how to use them and the startling effect they can have on the way your hair looks.
Use color to create the illusion of more volume
Most of the time we are told to avoid coloring our hair too much and with good reason. The harsh chemicals can do a lot of harm. But, doing it now and again can be a good way to make your hair appear to be thicker than it is. This is especially the case if you have your hair lightened. The bleach roughs up the hair cuticle just enough to make it look thicker.
Blow-dry your hair upside down

Tipping your head forwards so your hair hangs down while you dry it adds tons of volume. Oddly, if you then flatten the ends using a flat iron, it emphasizes the thickness even more. It sounds too simple to work, but it does.
Use dry shampoo on the roots
If the roots of your hair are a little greasy or not squeaky clean it will look flat and lank. You can quickly freshen it up using dry shampoo. But don’t just spray it all over. Instead, apply it only to the roots and brush it out. This will give your hair a lift without it looking too dried out. If you do use it, be sure to wash it out within 24 hours. This ensures that it does not build up around the hair follicles.
Long-term ways to volumize your hair
If you decide that you like the high volume look and don’t want to have to spend a lot of time achieving it, consider having extensions. They are not cheap but are an almost permanent solution. Having a perm is another option. But you have to bear in mind that it will start to grow out quite quickly and think about the stress having a perm can put on your hair.
The longer your hair is, the heavier it will be. So, often, simply having it cut shorter is all you need to do to lift it and give it volume.
All of the above work, but the biggest thing you can do to keep your hair healthy and help it to grow is to eat and drink the right things. Try this simple and easy to follow scalp and hair nourishing diet.
