We recently enjoyed a two day stay at the Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port. Located within Sportsman’s Park, just walking distance from the IGFA (International Game Fishing Association) Hall of Fame Museum and Bass Pro Shops, this property is a perfect destination for the outdoors enthusiast and cruisers.
If you are going on a cruise I would highly recommend this hotel as it is just minutes away from Port Everglades! Whether you are driving in, flying, or traveling by rail this property is ideally situated and there is a lot to do nearby.
At the IGFA Hall of Fame Museum you can enjoy a self-guided tour filled with everything you ever wanted to know about fishing. We learned much more than we expected and enjoyed the movie! My favorite exhibits were the interactive ones. I enjoyed reeling in a 1000+ lb. virtual Marlin! After you make your way through the exhibit you get to enjoy a nicely up kept nature trail through the marshlands where you can feed turtles and experience all sorts of local wildlife including gators!
For dinner just head across the parking lot to Islamorada Fish Company attached to Bass Pro shops for some delicious fresh sea food.
The Bass Pro at Dania Beach is more than just a department store. They have a 30,000 gallon aquarium filled with all sorts of fish ranging from Large Mouth Bass to Fresh Water Eels! On Saturdays and Wednesdays enjoy fishing demonstrations and learn tips from the pros!
If you are looking for fun in the sun Fort Lauderdale Beach is just minutes away and if you are lucky you might even catch the nesting sea turtles!
We ate at The Bistro located in the lobby of the hotel. There were a lot of choices on the menu both for breakfast and lunch. We got a bunch of different things and we at them all they were so good. I especially loved the fresh fruits and veggies! The Bistro offers seating throughout the lobby but we choose to eat in one of the media pods. The media pods were great for eating with the kids because each space comes with it’s own TV and remote control that kept my 10 year old busy while I worked.
The rooms at Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port have been recently renovated and are affordably priced. The pool is really nice, there is a laundry room, and a gym with free weights and machines! That’s a lot of amenities for a select service hotel of this size. The laundry room is perfect for guests who hate going home with dirty laundry or who might be leaving for a cruise and want to ensure all their clothes are clean before leaving. I also noticed the hotel provides transportation to and from the cruise port and airport.

This post reminds me so much of the Courtyard Marriott I recently stayed at in Bradenton, FL! I love their updated modern design! I love Ft. Lauderdale and will have to check this hotel out next time we’re there!
