A Warm Coat Can Warm a Heart

Last year the planets and stars aligned perfectly it seemed, as we were able to accept virtually every charitable event and promotion that came our way. Through our blog and our church, we accepted a range of volunteer opportunities and supported a variety of causes. In order to continue our momentum into the New Year, we donated a coat to the Annual Warm Coat and Warm Hearts Coat Drive hosted by Burlington. Through our participation in this program we were able to warm our hearts and help those most in need within our very own community.

Helping people is important to us for many reasons. Sure it feels good to do nice things for people, but being charitable isn’t just about warm and fuzzy feelings in our house. We believe that through being charitable and helping people, we can build a stronger community and a happier society. We also know what it feels like to be a family in need. Our family has received assistance in the past so we also feel it’s our duty to give back by promoting causes such as this.

Just by cleaning out your closet you can do the same thing!

For the past 8 years, Burlington has partnered with ABC Good Morning America and KIDS/Fashion Delivers to help families in need. As of this year, more than 1.3 million coats have been collected and donated to help the local community of each location. For each coat donation, Burlington is thanking customers by offering a savings of 10% on the largest selection of coats for the family in the country. The discount also extends to: ladies’ dresses, suits, sportswear, juniors, accessories, menswear, juniors, accessories, sportswear, family footwear, and children’s clothing.

As the number of Americans living in poverty continues to rise and temperatures keep dropping, the time to donate is now. There is probably someone cold and shivering in your community right now that would fit perfectly into that old coat you have just sitting there, taking up space. Every donation is a chance to make someone happy. Start the year of right by giving the gift of warmth to a neighbor in need.

You can donate your gently-worn coat(s) to your nearby Burlington. If you have kids, chances are there is probably an outgrown coat in a closet or under a bed somewhere in your house. After searching high and low we found this slightly-worn coat belonging to our youngest son and one belonging to me. The coats are in surprisingly good shape considering the owners but there are no stains or tears in the material. Coats like these are good examples of what they are looking for in a donation:

A great cause. Surprising you have a coat to donate in Florida. We have donated many times over the ears when we lived in the north and had plenty of extra coats.
