Being Active with the Family: Together Counts

My family is always looking for fun, active things to do together.  We try to find something that each of us likes but sometimes that is not easy so we take turns.  James (my youngest son) loves riding bicycles, hubby loves hiking, Ethan (my oldest son) enjoys swimming, and I like walking.  We all have differences.  This past weekend we went to a friends out in the country and spent the afternoon enjoying outside with other families from church.  The kids jumped on the trampoline and swung on the swingset, we walked down to the lake, and built a bonfire.  It was a lot of fun!

Next week we have a ton of fun, active things planned such as going to the Atlanta Zoo.  It’s spring break here in Atlanta and we are looking for other suggestions from you about what we can do…so please share.  One thing we want to do is a hike with a picnic of healthy foods.  We are going to try to incorporate Together Count’s message of Energy Balance into our activities. We can’t wait!

About

Together Counts is a nationwide program that inspires active and healthy living.  I love their message of Energy Balance – balancing calories with the calories we burn.  They brought 195 retailers, food and beverage manufacturers, restaurants, sporting goods and insurance companies, trade associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and professional sports organizations together to form the coalition with the message of moderation.

  1. Love this idea! A lot of people (including myself) sometimes forget to just go out and have fun. It’s also a great exercise while having fun. 🙂
