Over the past week I’ve been seeing a lot of very sad moms on Facebook with status updates about their children leaving for college. It’s scary to say goodbye. As a mom we prepare for years getting ready for that day when the kids finally leave our nests, spread their wings, and head off to college. It’s overwhelming and no matter how much we prepare we will always worry that our kids have everything they need to be successful. I know I’ve personally made the “list” of things to make sure my son has in preparation for school. Fortunately for me it wasn’t that long ago that I got my last degree so the things I think are important are still fresh in my mind.
4 Most Important Things For College Survival Kit
- Smooth Pen and Highlighter: You can’t escape having to write in college therefore a smooth pen is a must and a good highlighter is equally important. I choose an erasable highlighter because I’ve been known to go a bit highlight crazy.
- Laptop or Tablet: Having a small laptop or tablet where you can easily stick it into your backpack is important. You will need it in nearly every class and make sure it’s relatively lightweight because you will be carrying it around everywhere you go!
- Pain Relief: I wish I could tell you there won’t be any need for pain relief, but let’s face it…this is college we are talking about and headaches and stiff necks are just par for the course. Make sure you include it in the survival kit!
- Grooming supplies (Schick® Disposable Razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving cream, body wash): There is nothing worse than spending 3 days working on a research project with a group of peers only to be stinky and itchy from needing a shave. Whether it’s your legs (as a woman) or your face (as a guy) being freshly shaved and clean makes studying so much easier. I love the NEW Schick® Xtreme3® Ultimate for my son because it is reinvigorating with an improved design and 50% more lubricant. It fits great in his gym bag too for shaving on the go! For women I suggest the NEW Schick® Xtreme3® with Hawaiian Tropic scent and flexible blade to form around those hard to reach spaces.
