Wordless Wednesday Peaceful Pier in Santa Barbara with LINKY

On the east coast whenever you go to a restaurant near the ocean you find hundreds of seagulls begging for food.  Recently we went to the pier in Santa Barbara to eat and noticed the seagulls were acting differently.  Why?  There were signs everywhere that feeding the birds would result in a fine of $100.  We should try that over here…it was so peaceful to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful mountains and ocean without worrying that your food would be hijacked.

I adore California but I don’t think I could live there. There are tons of places I love to visit but very few that I can see myself enjoying year round. However, if I had an all inclusive holiday to Mallorca I certainly wouldn’t refuse it. I could get tons of beautiful pictures there!

  1. Great close-up pics! 🙂 It is amazing how acclimated the animals get to humans once you feed them. I’ve had squirrels come up to my hand before. IT is so cool!

  2. Beautiful pictures! I agree with the fines…if you don’t feed them, they won’t come back. A seagull swiped TWO churros out of my husband’s hand at Busch Gardens once. It took one and then came back and took the other, and scratched his face in the process. They are aggressive! It was pretty comical, though. 😉

Happy WW! Have a great day!

    • Yep, I think the worst place I ever experienced them was in Orlando at Disney. They try hanging that wire but it doesn’t really work.

  3. That is so true! They get really pesky!

  4. that’s one expensive lunch to buy for a bird!

  5. wish i was there…even with the pesky seagulls- beats my midwest winter! 😉

  6. Nice shots!

  7. Great photos! Seagulls remind me of my sister running down the beach throwing fries over her head so they would leave her alone!

  8. Great pictures!

  9. Those are really nice photos … looks so peaceful!

  10. I totally agree. We have some parks here where you aren’t supposed to feed the birds, but people do. So now the birds get a bit vicious if you don’t feed them because they are so used to it.

  11. Such a pretty bird!

Great picture and really good idea to discourage those pesky birds….They might be cute but they are alot cuter when you don’t have to fight them for your food.

  15. love those signs of spring, I’ll be happy to get spring weather again. 🙂

  16. beautiful photos! I love santa barbara! :]
