Be A Virtual Volunteer for National Play Outside Day
Growing up playing outside at the local park was something very valuable from my childhood. It was the place where all the kids in the neighborhood gathered to play basketball in the summer and where we ice skated in the winter. I learned how to double dutch at the park and spent hours playing hopscotch. Our neighborhood was always busy with sounds of children’s laughter and sometimes tears and sobs when one of us fell off our bikes and skinned our knee. I wish it were the same for my children growing up, but for some reason some people don’t put the same value on playing outside and enjoying our local parks. We need to change that…. As video games and technology take away the active lifestyles we all enjoyed as children it is our responsibility to revitalize our local parks so that our children have a place to play.
