Trip Planning with the HP Envy 23 #HPFamilyTime

As part of a program through HP our family was given an HP Envy 23 but not only were we given an HP Envy 23 but my mom (Mary) and step-dad were given one as well so that we could have #HPFamilyTime even though they are in NY and we live in FL.  My mother is 72 years old and although she would probably disagree and then laugh, she is not the most computer savvy person in the world.  After she had the computer for about a month I gave her a challenge to use some of the features and apps to plan our next family vacation.  Family travel is one of our favorite things! This is her creation…

Myrtle Beach Here We Come!

Trip Planning with the HP Envy 23 #HPFamilyTime

As one of my HP challenges we have decided to plan a trip to Myrtle Beach for later this summer so that my daughters can come up from Florida and join us in a rented beach house. There will be 10 of us so I am on an adventure to get this planned for August. We have decided to do a three way split on the rental so that it will be affordable for all.  My husband and I will fly to the Carolinas and rent a car and drive to Myrtle Beach.  Using my touchscreen on my HP ENVY 23-d150xt TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC I found that Southwest was having a sale and I researched which destination was closest to the beach.

One of the things I loved best about using my new computer to plan our vacation was the touchscreen.  It was so easy for me to just point at where I wanted to go and then it automatically brings me there.  It was reminiscent of being a child and just pointing at everything you wanted in the store.  Anyway, back to my trip…

From Albany, NY

  • To Charleston, SC starting at $187 one-way
  • To Charlotte, NC starting at $144 one-way
  • To Raleigh/Durham, NC starting at $134 one-way

I went to my apps and found the Maps App to determine the closest destination to the beach and found that it was Charleston SC at a distance of 97.20 miles so I went to price renting a car which I was able to get for only $141.00 from Priceline for the whole week.  There are a ton of apps in the Windows Store for travel and that is one of my passions so I plan on using a lot of them.  Next I searched for a beach house rental and was able to find one for $1,008.00 for the week.  There were several sites to choose from and I finally found the ideal place on Trip Advisor.  I love their site and I write a lot of travel reviews on there.  If you haven’t tried it you really should.

The house I found had the following:

Cuisines: American

They only have 12 tables and are famous for Fried Chicken and Collard Greens (my favorite). I can hardly wait to go there. The Blue Plate special is $8.00 and you can’t beat that.

Now the only thing left to do is shop for a new bathing suit and we are on our way.

I wonder if I can fit my HP Envy 23 into my suitcase?

Wanna come with us?

My daughter (Lisa) didn’t think I would be able to navigate the new computer without help, but she was wrong.  Not only was it easy to set up and get connected to the internet, but I’ve even showed her a thing or two. Thank you HP for giving me this computer.  I cannot express how much this means to me and my family.
