The California Wine Club featuring Bocage, Bargetto, and Robledo

Over the past 3 months I have had the privilege of trying some of the most incredible wines from vineyards around California via The California Wine Club.  The idea and service is something I never thought of prior to be contacted by the company, but now that I have had been getting shipments over the past couple months I’m not sure I would cancel it.  I love the idea of trying new things, of being surprised, and of experiencing all of this from the comfort of your home without lifting a finger (well you lift the glass but that is hardly considered work).

The Premier Club

There are four different wine clubs.  The one I joined was their most popular, The Premier Club.  Each wine club shipment includes two bottles of award-winning wine and our detailed and beautiful 12-page, full color publication, Uncorked.  Uncorked offers an up-close and personal look at the family behind the wines plus tasting notes, recipes, wine luminary interviews, games and so much more.

Easy to Join

Stay for as long as you like! Most wine of the month club members keep a credit card on file which we bill each month, right before shipping. There are no joining fees and you may cancel your wine club membership anytime.

Robledo

Packaging

My first month membership included a red and white from  Robledo Family Winery.

Never Damaged in Shipping

The Sauvignon Blanc was my favorite and because I’m not a wine connoisseur I drank mine with fish sticks and it went perfect!  Seriously, the newsletter did come with a fabulous recipe and pairing suggestions but let’s face it – as moms we sometimes just want need a drink.  I know very little about tasting and notes and all that fancy lingo, but I do know if I like it or not.  I did like both the red and white from the Robledo shipment the first month.

Robledo

I drank my red wine with lasagna one night and it was fabulous.  I really enjoyed it and hubby liked it too.

Bargetto and Bocage

Bargetto 2008

So far my favorite wines have been totally dependent on my mood.  I haven’t preferred red over white or vice versa.  I did especially like the Pinot Grigio from Bargetto.  Hubby enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc from Bocage the best.  I still have two bottles of the red wine to try.

Bocage 2010

If you are looking for gift ideas I strongly suggest The California Wine Club.  I found it very fun trying new wines and reading the newsletters.  I love learning about new things so this was particularly fun for me…

  2. Looks great…and I love what Mary said – about making great gifts too.

  3. I agree with you Mary. I love wines so I’d be extremely happy if I get to receive this kind of gift on my birthday. 🙂

  4. It wouldn’t work for me since I don’t drink wine, but I agree that it could be a great gift for someone who does.
