Great Ocean Road, Australia
Drive from Melbourne to Adelaide – two of the south-east coast’s most prolific cities – along the region’s spectacular coastline. You’ll be able to visit beautiful beaches along the way, as well as stopping at surfing hot spots like Torquay before experiencing the cascading waterfalls of Otway National Park. If you wanted to mix things up a bit, you could catch a flight over to Sydney and continue your drive back round to Melbourne, completing the South Australia experience in its entirety.
Lake District, England
The majestic scenery of The Lake District was the inspiration for world-famous poets like William Wordsworth and Samuel Coleridge, so a road trip here could take you on a real historical journey. There are plenty of hikes to be had in this English region, but if somebody in your party isn’t able to walk through the occasionally treacherous terrain, then it’s just as nice to drive through and observe the scenery, stopping at museums, luxury spas and sleepy villages along the way. Orlando, Florida
People come from all over the world to visit Orlando, and whilst most are attracted by the likes of Disney World and Universal Studios, there’s so much more that the city has to offer. Busch Gardens and the Kennedy Space Centre are well worth a visit, but no doubt they’re already on your agenda. Off the beaten tourist track lies the Orlando Science Centre, which is one of the only budget options for a day out in the city. There’s also a Titanic museum where you can tour a replica of the ship with actors dressed in period costumes to give an authentic feel.
Amalfi Coast, Italy
The Amalfi Coast is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Quaint, picturesque villages are set against the backdrop of steep sea cliffs decorated with natural greenery, so it’s a must-see for anybody used to the hustle and bustle of urban life. You can begin or end your trip in the beautiful city of Sorrento and sample some of the most authentic Italian food you’ll ever try at its many top class restaurants.
