No Place Like Home for the Holidays

The holidays are always such a busy time for us and our kitchen seems to gets a lot more traffic than any other time of the year.  When we think of the traditions in our home they are often centered on our family recipes. For instance you know at Thanksgiving you are going to have Pepperoni Stuffing but you also know that morning you will feast on our annual Pepperoni Eggs for breakfast.

As Christmas approaches it’s no different.  We have already taken out our Christmas recipes and last weekend we made Snowballs, Chocolate Almond Fudge, Molasses Cookies, and more.   But the all-time favorite dish for our family is the Bacon Spinach Quiche we have every Christmas morning.  Our tradition is to prepare the quiche on Christmas Eve and have it ready to throw in the oven first thing Christmas morning.  We always make two because it’s such a hit with our friends and family that everyone comes over to enjoy it.

Family and food go hand-in-hand and the holidays are a great time of the year for sharing the traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation.  On Christmas Eve we all open one present (which happens to be new PJs to wear to bed) and bake a fresh batch of Christmas cookies for Santa.  Then every Christmas morning we wake up and share with each other what Santa left while breakfast bakes in the oven.  If he leaves us any cookies we snack on them until the quiche is done and ready to eat.  By the time we are done cleaning up the kids are anxiously waiting tackle the presents under our tree.

There is nothing quite like being home for the holidays and sharing the traditions with the ones you love.  What types of holiday traditions do you share in your home?
