Earlier this week we got the opportunity to enjoy a Polynesian meal before viewing MOANA, the new Disney movie featuring Dwayne Johnson and Auli’i Cravalho. Right before the movie we got to spend some time to meet and greet as well as take photos with MOANA and Moana screenwriter, Jared Bush! It was pretty spectacular to share time with everyone in such a festive atmosphere.  We also got to tour the new Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. For a sneak peek at those check out Live and Let Blog.

I don’t want to spoil too much of the movie for you, so I’ll just say this is going to be a HUGE HIT! They worked on this movie for five years, and they perfected everything about the Polynesian culture. They immersed themselves into their culture to make sure the movie was authentic, and it shows. One of my favorite things about this movie is how they bring the ocean to life, and by ocean, I don’t mean the creatures that live in it, but the actual water itself. It’s really done well.

From Walt Disney Animated on Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, PG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. “Moana is the 16-year-old daughter of the chief of Motunui,” says director Ron Clements. “She’s brave, determined, compassionate and incredibly smart. She has a never-say-die attitude and a profound connection to the ocean.”

You will fall in love with the characters, especially HeiHei, he is my favorite. I did love how Maui’s tattoos came to life as the story unfolded and of course, the strong role model Moana turned out to be. Be sure to catch it in theaters!
