Midway Airboat Rides in Christmas Florida
Midway Airboat Rides was definitely an amazing experience. Traversing the vast expanse of marsh and swampland and while crossing the St. John’s River we were fortunate enough to spot several different kinds of animals. We saw several American Alligators, a variety of waterfowl, the coolest insects, and even cattle! Along with the beautiful landscape we also enjoyed viewing Ancient Native American Middens. We learned more than we expected about the local ecosystem as well as history of the people that used to and currently live in this area.
One of the first things you will notice going on this tour is the slow but powerful flow of the St. John’s River that seems to breathe life into the marshland. Traveling across the marsh we spotted several alligators, some big and some small as well as several species of Cranes, Herons, Hawks, and Osprey. Surprisingly the deeper into the marshland we got we began to see more and more cattle as they traversed the area eating the nutrient rich plaintiff and feeding their calves. The bulls and cows always had eyes on us as they kept watch over their young. Seeing and experiencing this was indescribable.
Out of all the birds my favorite was the majestic Osprey. I especially enjoyed how it gracefully and powerfully cut through the sky. It was definitely a sight to behold!
Entering the swampland we cut through massive groves of cypress trees and enjoyed (from afar of course) the amazing fishing spider. This spider may have been missing a leg but it was still an expert hunter just lying in wait for unsuspecting fish and insects that linger too long in its vicinity.
Learning about the customs of the ancient Native American people and rich cultural history of the area is something your whole family can enjoy. As if our experience couldn’t get better when docked everyone got to hold and get their picture taken with a real live Alligator!
The fleet of airboats at Midway Airboat rides was impressive as they all have plenty of seating. Each passenger also gets their own voice activated headset which makes communication much more effective. They did a great job with everything and if you are ever in Christmas Florida you just have to go on a tour for the experience of a lifetime!
